Tumblr’s New Update Makes Comments on ‘Reblogs’ More Readable

Tumblr, the Yahoo-owned blogging site has finally changed its reblogs, making them far easier to read and follow. When you reblog a post on Tumblr, you are able to comment on the reblog along with others who have previously commented. Earlier, reblog comments were nested into long threads that quickly turned into a “crazy long, indecipherable reblog chain,” said Tumblr.

Now with the new update, the reblogs appear in a consistent column, making it easier to steer among the comments. The changed is now viewable on all old and new posts, and is present on both the website and app. Back in July, Tumblr altered the reblogging system so the comments posted were no longer editable by other users or they couldn’t pick or choose which comments to include in the reblog. The move was not welcomed by the users, which Tubmlr acknowledged while announcing the new update.

Tumblr also said that, “You can choose whether or not you want to include that stuff in your own reblog, but you can’t really go in and edit other people’s text. We know—that level of flexibility allowed you guys do some pretty interesting stuff, but it also made misattribution way too easy.”
